The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Far Rockaway man for an Assault that occurred on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 11:00 PM in Inwood.
According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to a 911 call for a burglary in progress. Upon arrival officers discovered the victim and three witnesses struggling to control the suspect, Miguel Torres, 18, of 2925 Gerson Court. The victim identified Miguel Torres as the assailant and Police placed him under arrest. During the investigation Police learned that defendant Torres initially approached the victim at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard and demanded his wallet while displaying a blue folding utility knife. The victim refused and retreated to his Bayview Avenue home, where defendant Torres followed him and physically forced his way into the home. A struggle ensued once inside the home and the defendant slashed the victim in the left hand and forearm with the blue folding utility knife, and did bite a chunk of flesh from his left cheek. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Defendant Miguel Torres is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, 2 Counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and Menacing 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in Mineola.
